Mauritius is a luring horizon for people all over the world. It is located on the equator in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar. It also includes the islands of St. Brandon, Rodrigues and the Agalega Islands. Along with Réunion and Rodrigues, Mauritius is part of the Mascarene Islands. They were formed as a result of undersea volcanic eruptions. There are about 1,100 odd coral islands. Amongst the islands of Mauritius, 202 are inhabited and 87 are resort islands. The Mauritius Island is divided into 9 districts.

In the northern part of the island is located its capital and largest city, Port Louis. Hindus form the majority on the islands. Roman Catholics, Muslims, Buddhism, Protestants, and a few Sikh followers form the rest.The climate is comfortably warm and humid. Many of the island’s traditions are related to the seas surrounding it as life depends on the seas a lot for the people here.

There are innumerable resorts, tourist taverns and hotels that cater to all kinds of visitors throughout the year. One of the most famous ones here is the six star resort, Hilton Maldives Resort and Spa. While staying here, trips are organised by the resort to enchanting dive sites for snorkeling and scuba diving. Laguna Beach Resort is another one that has much to offer to its visitors. It’s a half an hour ride from the airport. As it is a little further away from the other islands it is a perfect getaway. Mauritius hosts a prominent deep sea fishing competition every December.
