This island, located between Mozambique and Madagascar, is geographically a part of Comoros and is claimed by it. But it’s an overseas region of France. Mayotte is divided into two islands and has many islets and atolls around it. The official language of Mayotte is French. Other languages spoken on the islands are Shimaore, Kibushi, Shingazidza, Arabic, and Kiantalaotsi.
Even though the islands are small compared to its neighbours, Mayotte has distinct flora fauna. You can camp in the villages; take walk amongst the pine trees in forests nearby. You can go down to the Biscarosse Lake, or laze around in the resorts and swim in their swimming pools.
