It’s a pilgrimage centre in Tamil Nadu. It’s one of the most sacred towns of India. The most famous site being the temple corridor which is the longest in India. Other places of interest are the Bathing Ghat, Ganthamathana Parvatham, Kothandaramar temple, Kurusadai island and other nearby islands that are abundant with coral reefs.

A devout Hindu who visits Varanasi is expected to visit Rameswaram too for the culmination of his quest for salvation. Rama sanctified this place by worshipping Lord Siva after the war against Ravana. Therefore, it is held sacred by Saivites and Vaishnavites.
