Greece is located in southeastern Europe on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula. Greece lies at the intersection of Europe, Asia and Africa. It shares borders with Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Turkey. To the east and to the south is the Aegean Sea. To the west is the Ionian Sea. There are a number of islands in the Mediterranean.
There are around 2,000 islands and the biggest are Crete, Chios, the Dodecanese, Euboea, Lesbos, and the Cycladic groups of islands as well as the Ionian Sea islands.
At 9246 miles, Greece has the tenth longest coastline in the world. Along with the islands, Greece has a good number of beaches and cays. They are tourist attractions and are centres for vacationing.Shipping is one of Greece’s most important industries and the country is opening up a lot of seaside resorts and agencies for water sports and vacation activities especially yachting and sailing.
