Jamaica is 385 miles northeast of Central America. Located in the Caribbean Sea, they are one of the most favoured traveller destinations across the world. The Taíno inhabitants named the island Xaymaca, meaning the "Land of Wood and Water", or the "Land of Springs". Tourism is the largest foreign exchange earner.
After the U.S. and Canada, it’s the third country amongst the Americas to have a large English speaking population. The capital city, Kingston is its principal port. Other ports are Port Esquivel in, Rocky Point, Port Kaiser. Jamaica has three cruise ship piers in Ocho Rios, Montego Bay and Port Antonio.
Besides music and football, Jamaicans are interested in water sports. This has given a boost to sailing and yachting in these regions.
