Chennai is the capital of the southern state, Tamil Nadu. The present city was founded in 1639 and has grown to be the fourth largest metropolis in India. St. Mary’s Church is the oldest Anglican church in India. Chennai also has a 1500 year old temple, Sri Parthasarthy Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
The second longest beach in the world is the Marina Beach in Chennai and is 13 kms long. There’s Guindy National Park and a snake park next to it. There are many more attractions in and around the city. Around 60 kms from Chennai is the Pulicat Lake which is a haven for birds like cormorants, storks, pelicans, flamingoes etc.
Chennai also has a lesser known beach near Adayar, Elliot Beach. There are resorts, water sports activities near the beaches. The fun is even more for adventure sports lovers as they are plenty of options for sailing and yachting. There are various private agencies that rent out yachts and equipments.
