Tourism is a big word in Kerala. Cochin is the commercial capital of the state. The city has the influence of the Dutch, Portuguese and the British. There are called Fort Cochin is replete with Dutch bungalows, palaces and a cemetery. The St. Francis Church, where Vasco Da Gama’s remains where kept for a few years before being taken back to his home country.
One of the famous landmarks of Cochin is the Chinese nets. Kerala is famous for its beaches especially the ones in and around Cochin. Fort Kochi beach, Cherai Beach and Parur Beach are some of the tourist spots along the coastline. There are services available to go fishing, yachting and sailing. The city has its own yacht club – Cochin Yacht Club. Parasailing and Sailing are also taught by the Navy here.
