The commercial capital of India was once a group of 7 islands reclaimed successively. It’s one of the fastest growing metropolitan cities in the world.The 26 m high Gateway of India was built in 1911 to honor the visit King George V and Queen Mary to India. From the Gateway of India it’s only about 9 kms to the Elephanta Caves. There are sculptures of Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. Mumbai has a promenade near the sea called the Marine Drive and it’s a great place to walk around and see the city.
